All About Do Mode

</aside>

In Do mode, anything you type is recognized by the AI as an action performed by your character, and it reacts by generating the outcome of that action within the context of the story.

Using Do usually adds 'You' to the beginning of your inputs, and converts any first-person words (I, me, my, mine, etc.) outside of quotes into second-person.

However, if you start your ‘Do’ action with dialogue, ‘My’, or write ’You’ yourself, the automatic’ You’ will not be added.

So, if you write in first-person (”I went to the throne room”), your input will automatically be turned into second-person (”You went to the throne room”). This is to keep the tense consistent for the AI.

If you have the Third-Person plot component enabled, then rather than ‘You’, the name of your character will be used instead. You can change the name of your character by navigating to the Flame at the top left of your Adventure screen, and changing ‘You’ to your name.

Examples:

Player input: Enter the throne room to tell the king of my discovery.

Input sent to the AI: > You enter the throne room to tell the king of your discovery.

Player input: My heart hurts. "I can't believe this."

Input sent to the AI: > Your heart hurts. "I can't believe this."

Player input: "She will not get away with this!" I raise my sword.

Input sent to the AI: > "She will not get away with this!" You raise your sword.

Tip: If you only use Do and Say modes during gameplay, the AI is more likely to generate repetitive sentences that always start with ‘You’, because that’s what it sees most often. To avoid this, we recommend varying how you start your inputs; this will encourage the AI to generate a wider variety of sentence types throughout your adventure.
